Q. How was your first experience working and could you share any challenges you faced?
As an entry level consultant, I was already in a client-facing role. A challenge I had faced was learning how to recover from mistakes. I quickly learnt that it is important to apologise, to know what are the next steps are and to follow-up. Most importantly, it is crucial to not make the same mistake twice.
Q. Could you tell us what first led you to embark on a consulting career?
My first instinct was to go into banking and finance as it was the norm then. During my university life, I made use of internships as opportunities to learn about different industries. That’s one of the best things about school because you have the time to try out different things. It was through a consulting internship where I finally discovered that consulting was something that I wanted to do for a career. I actually joined Oliver Wyman after completing an internship with them and I decided to accept Oliver Wyman’s offer because I like the environment and emphasis they put on developing yourself.
