Head of Commercial

Q. What was your first job change like?

My first major job change was when I left my job as a journalist at the Business Times to start content.co. The creation of the start-up happened quite quickly, as content.co was pitched through an SPH accelerator programme while I was still working at The Business Times.

What led me to start my company was the pain I felt in the media industry while working as a journalist. If you were to analyse the profits of media companies, you would see that their profits are plunging year on year. This shows how the traditional business model is no longer working and it made me want to find a sustainable solution.

Q. What was your first time pitching as co-founder like?

My first time pitching for my company was for an accelerator programme. I remember spending hours and hours rehearsing. Now it’s so much easier because all the information is at the top of my mind.

An important thing to remember when pitching is to step into the shoes of the person you are pitching to. In addition, try to find out what the person wants and add value to that.
